New York City Ballet SPRING Gala - May 4, 2016

"Home to the Best Dancers in the World" - The New York Times. 

The one-night-only Spring Gala program will feature the world premiere of two new works, including American Rhapsody by Christopher Wheeldon, director and choreographer of the Tony Award-winning musical An American in Paris and former NYCB company member and Resident Choreographer. Nicolas Blanc’s Mothership will also have its world premiere as part of the program.  Mothership is set to a score of the same name by composer Mason Bates which was commissioned by the YouTube Symphony Orchestra for large ensemble in 2011, and features costumes by NYCB’s Marc Happel and lighting by Mark Stanley.  Also on the program will be Russian choreographer Alexei Ratmansky’s 2008 work for the Company, Concerto DSCH, set to Shostakovich’s Concerto No. 2 in F Major, featuring costumes by Holly Hynes and lighting by Mark Stanley.
